Canada's men's soccer group would not play a planned World Cup warmup match on Sunday against Panama in the midst of an agreement debate between the players and the game's public overseeing body.
Canada Soccer affirmed the match, planned for B.C. Place in Vancouver, was dropped under two hours before the opening shot. Many disheartened fans wearing red and white regalia waited external the arena after the news broke.
The Canadian players gave an assertion Sunday early evening time saying they chose not to play the game on the grounds that the talks over another arrangement had been "superfluously delayed."
"It's time we stand firm for the fate of soccer in Canada," the assertion said, noticing that the discussions started in March.
